JOURNAL & WIKI:
Students frequently make entries in their journals as they respond to various prompts such as read alouds, videos or other tools. Web 2.0 is a set of new tools designed to increase interaction and collaboration between students and teachers and among the students themselves. Wikis are one of those tools...it is simply a web page that students can use to upload assignments. our wiki can be accessed using the following link: ldhsbusiness.pbwiki.com.
FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT
The Junior and Seniors will be learning 'Budgeting' and 'Credit Card Management' this next year.
Keyboarding Curriculum
We are using a very cool online keyboarding tool developed by Ellsworth Publishing. The software
monitors student progress and even scores and grades students' work. We hope to offer a short keyboarding class in the after school program.
To add variety and to keep students constantly engaged, students also use 'Microtype' to practise keyboarding in a fun way.
Word Processing
We are using the most commonly used Office Suite- MS Word, Excel, Publisher, Powerpoint and Access to produce documents. Students will also learn simple office procedures such as preparing memos and faxes, ten-key data entry, telephone skills, interview skills and filing. The aim is to prepare students with functional skills to enter the job market quickly.
Business Career Cluster
Students are exploring their interests and hobbies while discovering their career path. Montana's six career clusters are used as the guide. Find out about the many careers in Business.
INTEGRATING READING AND MATH
We have begun integrating Reading and Math concepts into the curriculum. So far we have used Math games such as Yahtzee and flash cards. We also started doing Read alouds at the beginning of the sessions.
